PRETENDING ADULT
Sorry, it has been a while. Today It's all about pretending adults, or rather an immature adult. We all know that a
person above eighteen or slightly
eighteen is regarded as a young adult, but once you attain twenty-one years of
age. The person is now a full adult, who can sign a contract and can make all law binding decisions.
Actually, they are
people who are above the said age; twenty-one
but are still very much a child or teenager.
Their mental capacity is just like that, they think like a child. I call them
Pretending Adults.
Adulthood is not about
the age or number in the years that count. It is
not about I am thirty or forty or whatever age people deem maturity as. It's
about the experience, it is more about what you
have faced, what you can point to as our achievement, more on what had happened
and how you dealt with the occurrence. The rational decisions. The realness
in reality – how you have decided to face
reality.
The problem some youth
find solution to when they are down. Some
adults still whine and lament like children when they are supposed to seek answers to whatever problem comes in, and expect to grow in thinking, they will only be children in the eyes of many.
Just like a lot of
children could attain adulthood before the age, due to the loss of family members and having no one to cater for them, but themselves. The same
way an adult who is a child within relying on his or her parent to do
all that she is suppose to be capable of
doing.
Let me take this as an
example, at the age of thirty, let's forget about the economy and all, a woman is expecting her own mother to
feed her, clothe her, buy her sanitary pads. The worst been she doesn't see
anything wrong about it because she felt it's suppose to be her mother's duty to do all that for all. Honestly, it might not be wrong due to the
economy, but it is very wrong thinking she could sleep and wake to expect the old woman to cater for her need.
That is one pretending
adult, deciding to advise the younger ones, yet she acts too immature to see her own faults.
Another one is the stubborn
adult, who thinks they knew all and did
not need help or advice from anyone. I also call the Pretending adults. As an adult, they should have the knowledge that no
one is above all. We are all here (in the world) to learn, and we can gain understanding from anyone. I always believe that
the age group stubbornness trend is during our adolescent because we think we
are growing and deserve the right to make our decisions.
Any
adult who thinks likewise is like a child, to me. That's
why when someone young is trying to fight depression on some issue, an adult
will be thinking of committing suicide on the same issue.
I do not regard all adults as pretending adult. They are certain
adult I call pretending adult
